The Basic Rules and Policies

General Rules:
Must be 18+ years of age. Children and teenagers must be accompanied by an adult.

No drinking or recreational drug use prior or during meetings or investigations.(for your safety and ours)

Wear what you want during meetings (within respect to possible minors attending) , but dress and appearance for residential investigations, I want the group to project a professional image. i.e No jeans with holes or rips or shirts with inappropriate phrases or images please.

Long hair MUST be tied back during investigations!! One simple little strand of hair in front of a camera lens will show up in the photo as something it is not!

Discrimination (against gender,age,background, religion, lifestyle etc...) is NOT welcome here. Nor is harassment of any members. We reserve the right to terminate membership in violation of this. We also need to keep in mind that slang words like "fag" and "Nigga" a may be offensive to certain people of our community. Even if you don't mean it that way, it could very well be construed that way.

We reserve the right to deny or dismiss anyone we feel is in violation of our Code of Conduct invites to group functions, access to the forums, or any Spookies activities.

ALL NEW MEMBERS wishing to participate in or host investigations, must schedule a time and date for an initial one on one interview with a member of the Lead Team or myself. This is for the safety and security of the members and the integrity of our work.

IF you have a medical condition in which may need immediate treatment or care (such as Athsma,Epilepsy, Type 1 Diabetes or heart condition), please let the someone on the Lead Team know. This isn't to violate your privacy, this is "in case of an emergency" situations. There may be instances where our work takes us miles from the nearest medical treatment center. Also, if you have a pace maker, please tell us before investigations. Pace makers can be picked up by some equipment and may give a false positive.

THE GHOST HUNTERS CODE

Find out what you really need to know in order to be a true ghost hunter. The list consists of 25 statements that all ghost hunters should take to heart. The CODE will protect you from harm and guide you on your quest. Commit it to memory and it will serve you well.

What you really need to know.

1. Let them (ghosts & spirits) know they are not forgotten. Let your journey in this field of study be a labor of love. Remember to be respectful of ghosts & spirits, as they were once people, and still are for that matter. Although we are conducting scientific research, our goal is to ultimately help these souls reach a place of light to be with their loved ones. Keep in mind not all entities are spirits of people.

2. Never tease, threaten provoke or dare an unseen entity. Do you want a vengeful being stalking you?

3. Conduct yourself as a professional at all times. We always want to present ourselves as one in control and professional. Always look out for your team members.

4. Never seek out entities on your own. A team of two works well and three is the ideal number. If a situation arises where someone gets injured, one person can stay with the injured and one can go seek help.

5. Addicting habits can be contradictory to your ghostly pursuits. Examples would be heavy addictions to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, an abnormal sex drive, etc. These things in excess make you vulnerable and susceptible to attack. Also, throughout history various mind altering substances make one closer to the spirit realm than we may want to be or ready to be. This is not a safe thing to do and can bring not only yourself but your team under attack or in company of unwanted visitors.

6. Pay attention to your dreams. Entities will use this relaxed state of mind & body to try and influence or torment its targeted victim. They also will try to communicate with you . The best way to stop this is tell them to leave. If you feel the need to invoke your patron God or deity , do so.

7. Use religious relics & symbols as a protection. But only use these if you believe in what they can do. It's not the item itself that has the power; it's what it symbolizes according to your faith. That's what actually gives it its power.

8. Listen to your instincts and your intuition. Draw from the power within. You will find this to be your greatest resource. Surround yourself in white light and use prayers of protection.

9. Never leave a team member behind, not ever. Commit yourself to the task at hand until it's done. A combined effort makes the team a whole intricate working structure. If you feel scared or need to leave, let your team know. No one should be kept in a place against their will especially if they are in fear. Many entities feed off of fear.

10. Always consider all aspects of a haunting. Go into an investigation with a kind heart and gracious attitude. But know that most hauntings can be explained. i.e. house settling, furnace noises etc. And as sad as it is, you must also consider the mental & emotional state of the victim as well. Paranoia, delusional aspects and mental illness in general may be a consideration. As a final note; it should also be stated however, that in some cases, an unstable person can actually be open to these types of visitors and or attacks.

11. Always remember, you are the one in control. You have the body and thus you have the power. It's really simple; you are in your element. This is your dimension and your reality. Unseen entities are intruders into your space. That is, unless they are invited in or finds a way in through your weaknesses. Be strong by curving appetites and living a productive & wholesome life.

12. Be familiar with all aspects of the supernatural. Know well the entities you pursue. Understand them and the things of their world. Knowledge is power. The more you know, the more confident you become. Be careful though, not all knowledge is good. Acquire it with a scientific standpoint.

13. Your best protection is in the life you lead. If you are active in ghostly pursuits then evil will cross your path, so be armed. If you are religious, then live your religion. But whether you are or not, you best protection is to live so as to put others first. Good deeds and a love for all life is your greatest protection.

14. Don't be afraid to experiment. Not everything you try will work. If one attempt or theory fails, keep trying. Simply move on to the next thing on your list. And by all means, have a list.

15. Do your homework. Consider all aspects of an investigation before you go. A preliminary walk through ahead of time is advised. Doing a history check is helpful as well. Anything you can find out ahead of time will be to your advantage.

16. Never be without outside contact. Make sure others outside your team are aware of where you are when on an assignment or investigation. A cell phone is a must.

17. Demonic Possession. It's extremely rare that you will ever hear of a full-fledged demonic possession. But it is something that all ghost hunters need to be aware of and briefed on.

Full-possession requires an "invitation" in order to gain a foothold. However, there are activities that can be construed as an invitation. i.e. Ouija boards, séances, etc. A person with heavy addictions, sins, depression or someone who is desperately lonely is more apt to be targets. When any type of invitation is construed, whether implied or direct, it may very well be acted upon by such evil entities. Even with all that, it's still rare that evil will triumph successfully, but it is possible in some cases. Ghost hunters are somewhat susceptible because of the nature of their work.

18. Lower Level Entities. There are other less severe life forms that we need to be aware of as well. They are evil and are here to weaken the population through their influence. Their ultimate goal is to distract us from our life duties and make us as unproductive as possible.

These creatures are subtle but very much determined. People that allow them selves to be heavily influenced in this direction are also more prone to demonic possession. This type of entity uses distraction through such things as computers, video games, unwholesome activities, etc. If you miss out on important family outings or you lose your job because you want to stay home and play video games, etc, then they have gained some control. It's called, lower level possession. Ghost hunters need to avoid this trap at all cost. Refer to codes 5, 6, 11 & 13. And for a good resource, buy a book on Psychic Self-Defense.

19. Be scientifically minded. Strive to prove the existence of ghosts and the afterlife. We are not just ghost hunters. We are investigators we cannot simply rely on the word of someone with a particular gift. We need to know for ourselves and we need to document it in our studies. We also need to dedicate time to research of history and world culture.

20. Rely on your senses. Be ever mindful of your own awareness and be aware of your surroundings.

21. Evidence is everything. All we really have to show for our hard word is the evidence we collect. So take notes, write up reports, snap pictures, and collect EVPs. Keep a log.

22. Other than what we document with equipment, everything is based off of theory and intuition. Keep in mind that theories vary. Until we die we don't know what is for sure, so keep an open mind.

23. Expect Results. Go into every assignment with an attitude of well defined purpose, knowing you have your preliminary research accomplished beforehand and then have a plan to make it all come together. A good investigator is organized and thorough. The right attitude yields results!

This section of our site is dedicated to false positives and fake ghost photos. What is a false positive and what is the difference between that and a fraudulent photo? A false positive ghost photo is a photo in which no intentional manipulation was done to create what appears in the photo. A photo is considered fraudulent when the photographer uses tools to intentionally manipulate the photo to make it appear the way they want. A good example is "photo shopping" anomalies from another photo into their photo or using the tools to create anomalies into their photo. I put the Spookvale community to work to produce their finest fakes and false positives.

This little spectral beauty was created by P. Richardson who is also a professional photographer. He used photo shop to create the little ghost to the right. However, the orb on the left is not fake.

This is without a doubt one of my FAVORITE photos. No that is not a ghostly light at the end of the tunnel. This is what happens when two camera flashes go off at the same time.

Not only is smoking bad for you, it's bad for your photos too. We created this one some time ago to show what happens when you smoke and take photos at the same time.

That's Justin's finger. The camera went off as he dropped it and tried to catch it.

I call this the "Moonstone orb" because of the different blend of colors. It looks like moonstone.

This photo was taken out near Caledon, ON in a man made Cave next to a river.

In this particular area, there is a river right down the bank here. An unknown "force" touched Loretta B.'s hair in this spot.
It wasn't her sudden shriek that made us jump .. it was the fact when we turned and looked, a patch of hair was standing straight up by itself for a quick moment then quicky fell limp.

From the director

This is a residential case in Mississauga. I got a very distressed e mail from a lady by the name of "Heather" who claimed her house was haunted and she had been having problems since she had moved in nine years ago. This case is also a work in progress, being that we are not yet done with the case, however, I have been given permission to release the details. I have not included all of the evidence on this page as of yet, because a lot of it is still under evaluation.

There are many kinds of entities and spirits. Some are the spirits of people who have passed on still walking amongst us, and some were never human. They've always been here. Some are manifested from energies that we put out in our daily lives. Even those entities we label as "poltergeists" or "demons" cannot be labeled as specifically to one sort. Just like us living beings, humans, animals, birds, and insects, there are many different "species" of these as well . Some can be strong as an elephant, or even as weak as wasp, but still troublesome none the less. There has been a vast history on dealing with such entities through the ages. Some call for full blown exorcisms, while others ... it takes the person who is affected to balance some things in their life in order to make whatever entity go away.

Upon arriving on the initial interview, we caught a total of four E.V.P's . If I can upload them to this site somehow, I will surely do that. With this case, there is no doubt in my mind that there is something in the house, but greater efforts to rid the presence is going to take a lot of effort and cooperation with the client to balance a lot of the things in her personal life and the team's perseverance. As I said, this is a work in progress.

WE are currently seeking a chemistry student who can get this crud analyzed.

The stuff is ON the doorframe. As you can see it looks like a splatter not a drip down from the ceiling.
It is thick.sticky and reddish brown.

The Screaming Tunnel

November 10th, 2007

So the story goes .... back in the day, there was supposedly a house not too far from the tunnel. Apparently a nasty marital dispute happened between a man and his wife. The guy "wigged out" and murdered his wife and went after his daughter. The daughter ran away, and made her way to what is now known as the "Screaming Tunnel". Thinking she could hide from her crazed father in the shadows of the tunnel, she made her way in. Unfortunately he found her and dowsed her with gasoline and torched her. Legend says that if you light a match in the tunnel it will go out and you will supposedly hear a scream ... or at least catch one on E.V.P.

There are many variations of the history behind the tunnel but the story just stated, was featured on "Creepy Canada". The tunnel is located on the outskirts of Niagara Falls at the end of a dead end road and is right under the railroad tracks.

Regardless of what is fact vs. fiction. All I can say is, view these photos with this in mind: "Everything is open to interpretation, keep your mind open to all possibilites."

Terry Boyle visit- Joint Investigation with "S.O.H.L.S"

Well first of all, thanks to the S.O.H.L.S group out of Kitchener for coming down. We look forward to seeing you all again. Sorry we didn't plan more efficiantly due to the weather being unpredictable.

The afternoon started out with meeting and greeting Mr. Terry Boyle. Author of "Haunted Ontario" "Haunted Ontario Revisited" "Haunted Mississauga" and many other books. He's also hosted "Creepy Canada" as well. We met up with our Kitchener counterparts at the book signing.

Afterwards, We went to Chuchlainn's Irish Pub in Streetsville

After Dinner and the "meet and greet" we took off to explore
some of the haunted sites of Streetsville.

The following content was taken (with permission) from the Georgia Paranormal Research Team. You can find their website by clicking HERE. If your home is occupied by a harmful or manevolant entity, the following my help you.

Do not use any type of ouija board, tarot cards, automatic writing, seances , or divination to communicate with any entities or spirit presences. You have no way of knowing what you are communicating with. This opens up doorways , that once open, can be difficult to close.

Try as much as possible to control your fear level, certain entities feed off of this, and it can make things worse. Also if you have children in your home, your fear is going to magnify what they are feeling a 1000%.

Try to maintain a normal, healthy lifestyle as much as possible. Get out of the home as much as possible, around other people. You will find this will help tremendously in dealing with any type paranormal phenomena, to help keep you grounded, get out in the real world and not stay like a recluse in your home. This can be a breeding ground for fear, which can be used against you by certain forces.

Do not go overboard with trying to take pictures and recordings of things going on at your residence. This gives recognition to whatever type entity you are dealing with, and gives them power.

Try as much as possible to ignore or not overly show recognition to things going on in your home, if possible. Again, the recognition factor.

If you are involved in any type of rituals, or occult practices, we would suggest you stop , at least until you can have a professional paranormal investigative organization work with you. Your involvement with these practices can sometimes be the cause of phenomena or make them worse.

If you are of a particular religious faith, one that believes in a higher divine being, we recommend that you become more active in your faith and concentrate on building your spiritual relationship with your God. You will find this can be a tremendous help in dealing with this.

Listen to what your children tell you. Sometimes, especially the smaller children, can see and sense things we cannot as adults. Their imaginary friends might not be so imaginary.

Be observant of your animals. They are particularily sensitive to spirits, and entities and more than likely be a good indicator at times when something is going on of a paranormal nature.

Pay attention to your dreams , sometimes they can be indicators of paranormal phenomena, especially if you seem to have the same horrible or terrifying dreams or nightmares. Keep a journal of your dreams, record them. They can be of tremendous help to investigators working on your case.

If you have drinking problems (alcohol) or drug problems, get some type of professional help to try and get off of these. They can open up areas in your life where spirits or entities can gain entry to you, and until you overcome these problems, it will be almost impossible to get rid of any paranormal problems.

Be attentitive to other people in your life or involved in your life. Just because you don't do things they do, but live with them in the same house, or go with them to different functions that they do, can open up doorways for things in your life. Also some of these people do not have your best intentions in mind.

DO NOT sit around, and cruise the internet looking for ghost sites ( if you are having paranormal problems), looking at all these ghost pics, listening to all those evp's out there, or involved in all those paranormal chat rooms out there. Sure , this is entertaining stuff, but that is the problem. For to many people, this is interesting, even if they are having problems. They watch all the horror or occult flicks out there, read books on the subject, and go to all these sites on the internet, looking and reading about all these other cases out there, many times late at night, giving even more recognition to whatever it is they are dealing with, and increasing their fear factor through the roof , which some of these entities just love for you to do.

If you are having paranormal problems of an extreme nature (such as violent attacks,terrifying phenomena, sexual attacks by entities, phenomena associated with involvement in occult practices and rituals, satanism, black magic, and so forth, etc.) be advised that you and your family will probably have to make some radical changes in your life to achieve life long freedom from this, and more than likely, it will take some time. Unlike what you see on tv and read in novels, there is not an instantaneous cure for this problem. The major key in dealing with a paranormal problem of this severity is the people or families involved have to take some responsibility in this matter & work with the clergy and investigatiors as a team, but most of all, doing what is recommended to you. And realizing that they may be issues in your life that can contribute to or be the cause of what you are experiencing. There may be personal or emotional issues in your life that you don't want to deal with or actions that you may have to take that may not be very comfortable to do, or that you really don't want to do, but is necessary to bring an ultimate end to what you are going through.

The Cherry Hill House

The original building was built in 1822 by Joseph Silverthorn and stands by at the intersection of Dundas St & Cawthra Rd, but was moved onto a new foundation 800ft away in 1972. Amongst the friendly service, the warm atmosphere, and the five star food at this cozy establishment is also home to alleged number of spirits.
Justin came home from work early and we haven't had a romantic night out in awhile being he has to get up at 4am. As Dedicated ghost hunters, we decided what would be better than "Dinner and a haunting"?
We arrived at 8:45 pm there was only four other customers there and we were greeted by the server known as "Happy". We asked "Happy" about the alleged haunting. The room with the supposid activity is on the second floor to the left. The room was boiling warm, but at the same time, there was a chill I got along with a slight nauseating feeling as if I had a touch of the flu but then it was gone. As "Happy" was telling us about past guests who have abruptly left the facility, the lights flickered on and off. It was evident that our hospitiable waiter was very uncomfortable in the room.
We asked him how long he worked there and even being there for about a year and a half, Happy had more than his share of haunted happenings in the house.

"Well, when it gets noisy sometimes you'll hear someone knocking loud on the floor from upstairs" he claims

To Justin and I, it sounds like Joseph and Jane Silverthorn are not keen on noise. Like two grumpy old people living in the apartment above.

Well, we ordered our dinner and proceeded to snap some photos. We also planted a digital voice recorder in the room (haven't listened to it as of yet) before we went back downstairs for our meal. Lo and behold, to my eyes upon reviewing the photos as I nibbled on my asparagus and goat cheese appatizer, It looks like we MAY have a possible manifestation! This isn't an orb, but both photos were taken seconds from eachother.

What the Heck is that?

A flash was not used for either shot.

As you can see this one is strangley blurry and compared to the first photo

the brightness in the room is constantly changing because

different light fixtures keep going in and out and were doing so at random.

They were doing it as we were talking to "Happy" and as we were explaining to the curious onlooker
about the ghosts there.

Multiple photos were taken of this very spot these are the only two that turned out weird. The others were clear and no oval looking orb.

So whether you are an avid Ghost Hunter or just craving some Veal Parmasean, the Cherry Hill House is definatly worth visiting. We intend to keep this on our frequent visiting list.

Camp for those who see dead people

WONEWOC, Wisconsin (AP) -- They see dead people on Spook Hill.

Spiritualist Judy Ulch tries to give insight to people from their dearly departed.
They're walking around the grounds, sitting in the dining hall and in the pews at the abandoned church. Kids, heard by visitors but usually only seen by those trained to see into the spirit world, play outside the rustic and run-down cabins.
"Oh yeah, they're all over the place," says Judy Ulch, a jovial 60-year-old who claims not only to see dead people but also receive messages from them that she passes on to their loved ones who pay $40 per half hour for her services.
"Sometimes I see them so close, I see the stubble on their face," Ulch says.
Ulch and other self-described mediums live at the Wonewoc Spiritualist Camp every summer, welcoming guests from around the country who come for visits between 15 minutes and overnight to get insight into their lives from the dearly departed.
They seek hope, solace and inspiration. And sometimes they just come for a fun day out with friends. Or to try to disprove what Ulch and others claim to be their ability to see spirits.
Wonewoc is one of 13 spiritualism camps across the country. It first opened in 1893 and is in its 106th summer season. For years visitors arrived by train and climbed the hill to the wooded bluff overlooking the small town, with a population now of just over 800.
The 37-acre camp is run by followers of Spiritualism, a religion that started in the mid-1800s and reached the height of its popularity at the end of that century, but that still maintains an estimated 250,000 followers.
Some tenets of Spiritualism are that people live on after death and they can be communicated with using a medium like Ulch or Hilda First. First claims messages from a spirit named Fairchild who speaks to her in Shakespearean English.
Perhaps the most famous spiritualist camp -- in Cassadaga, Florida -- is 113 years old and on the National Register of Historic Places. More than 30 mediums live in the city, which some refer to as the "psychic center of the world."
The Wonewoc camp fell on hard times in recent years during a legal fight over ownership. With that settled, Ulch and others are focused on raising the camp's profile to attract more visitors.
Readings cost $40 for half an hour, while 15-minute mini-readings are available on Mondays for $20. Seniors can get a $35 reading for 30 minutes on Wednesdays, while the price for workshops varies from $20 to $40.
It also offers ice cream socials, campfires and budget rate lodging at just $15 to $40 a night.
Mediums, clairvoyants and healers are housed in the camp -- known to the locals as "Spook Hill" -- either for all or part of the season. There are workshops and classes, not on typical summer camp fare like basket weaving and swimming, but rather past life regressions and how to see auras in 60 seconds.
The 36 cabins, dining hall and chapel were mostly built in the 1920s. And it shows. Many are sinking. Doors creak and don't open fully, a porch light that camp goers said burned different colors for more than 30 years on the same bulb finally went out this summer, and the original chapel is boarded up after a tree fell on it.
Ulch's husband Harvey serves as handyman, doing his best to keep up with the endless repairs. In his third year at the camp with Judy, the born and raised Methodist shakes his head when he talks about what he's seen.
"I'm amazed," he said, after describing seeing a table seemingly move under its own power during one so-called "table tipping" session. "I'm a believer. ... I just kind of like to sit back and observe."
Followers of Spiritualism often describe it as a science, philosophy and religion rolled into one. Spiritualists believe in seeing visions, receiving prophecy, healing the sick, levitating, writing words given to them from the dead and seeing other manifestations.
Despite skepticism from mainstream religion, the Spiritualism movement was motivated in the beginning with proving the basic tenets of Christianity, said Phillip Lucas, a professor of religious studies at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.
Messages they reportedly received from the dead were offered as proof of the immortality of the soul, said Lucas, an authority on new religious movements.
"They're seekers," Lucas said. "Spiritualism tends to be very nondogmatic. You can really believe whatever you want to believe as long as you believe the central idea that life is endless."
A group of five women who came for a reading one summer day at the Wonewoc camp all said they didn't see a problem visiting the camp while practicing a different religion. The women, all related but declining to give their last name, said they come once a year for fun and insight into their lives.
"You have to be really opened minded with it," said Nancy, a 49-year-old who was there with her two daughters, age 20 and 23, her sister and her sister-in-law.
Mainstream religion has historically taken a dislike to Spiritualism because it goes against basic Christian beliefs in heaven and hell, which spiritualists reject, and that the living can communicate with the dead.
The National Spiritualist Association of Churches, based in Lily Dale, New York, does not believe its religion conflicts with Christianity, although it says Spiritualism is not necessarily a Christian religion.
Ulch, whose relatives helped build the camp more than 100 years ago, only asks that people have an open mind.
"We would never try to change anybody's mind," she said. "I know it's true and I've seen it. I'm not a fraud." E-mail to a friend

Carrie "Valkyrie" Pierce

Born and raised in the small town of East Otto, NY. Carrie had been exposed to the metaphysical and the paranormal at a very young age. Her grandmother was an Italian woman who believed in medium-ship, often took her to Lily Dale until 1997 when Carrie began a ten year career with the United States Air Force. Being active duty military didn't stop Carrie from exploring the paranormal. She involved herself in a few ghost hunting groups during her tour at Langley AFB, VA. Unfortunately being in a military town, ghost hunting groups come and go like the wind because military people are "here today and gone tomorrow". While in Virginia, Carrie and her friends explored some of the haunted historical sites such as the Yorktown Battlegrounds in Yorktown, VA as well as the infamous " Crawford Road" also located in Yorktown VA. She has also had the honor to assist in a few residential cases as well. In January 2005, Carrie was assigned to Robins AFB, GA where she was deployed to the Afghanistan Region in support of Operation:Enduring Freedom. It was then, she had a life changing experience because of a ghostly phone call in May of 2005. "I was working next to the mortuary and the bodies of two young marines were being held there awaiting transport back to the states. They were kept in these caskets in the back of a van with a refrigerator box on it. A day or so later I got off my shift (I worked nights) and went to bed. We slept in these huge tents and there was like 12 women in a tent and each of us had our own section. There were tarps separating each section for privacy. I brought my cell phone to use as my alarm clock because there weren't any over there at the base exchange. I fell asleep and into this weird dream state and in this "dream" my phone rang and a faint voice with a smooth southern draw say "Hello? Pierce?"
I asked it "Who is this?" it said "Listen this is Matt. You need to get up. Get your things together you're packing out. There's no time get up now! ...... this is your boy in the box"

I awoke after that, with my phone in my hand as if I had been talking on it. I sat there awake and not even twenty minutes went by when my supervisor storms into the tent and pulls my section flap open and tells me to get up and get dressed. Right behind her was the commander and the chaplain to give me the news that my father passed away an I had less than an hour to get ready to leave. Ironically enough my dad was a proud USMC Vietnam Veteran. Since then, I had been driven to develop a deeper understanding and to the paranormal as well as pass along what I have learned and learn from others." she reports. From that point on, she has been driven to seek a deeper understanding of the supernatural. She has participated in a few groups in Georgia with the same "fly by night" status in Warner Robins, GA (another military town) but has had the honor to befriend who she calls her "Paranormal Mentor" Andrew Caulder with the Georgia Paranormal Research Team out of Dublin, GA. In July of 2007, Carrie was honorably discharged from the U.S military and is now settled with her husband Justin and her husky "Diamond" in Mississauga Ontario. She is striving to make the Meadowvale Spookies a strong standing group in Ontario and is on a "quest" seeking other people who take paranormal research seriously . She runs a tight ship, but knows how to have fun too.

The following contains information on our policy and procedures. We reserve the right to make changes as necessary. These guidelines are enforced to maintain the safety of our members and hosts and protect the integrity of our work. In conjunction with the Basic Rules and Polices, the following further instruction is implemented for events and investigations: The Lead Team: A) Hand picked by group leadership to act as both a committee and liaison between leadership and members. - Helps plan events and outings - Conducts initial interviews for clients and members prior to attending investigations - Assists leadership with cases at private locations such as residences. - May conduct monthly/weekly meetings as scheduled. B) The Lead team also consists of people who have helped form and build The Meadowvale Spookies and has an established working relationship and trust with leadership Members: A) People of all races, lifestyles, cultures and beliefs are welcomed to The Meadowvale Spookies. - Are guaranteed a safe discrimination free environment. - Are treated with equality and respect regardless of age gender religion or experience in the field. - Are expected to adhere to the rules and policies during group activities and maintain the integrity of our groups reputation while conducting independent investigations or guesting with other groups. - MUST have an emergency contact info card available while on investigations. B) New members: - Will be required to attend a new comers orientation and/or personal interview 1) Personal interview will be conducted prior to attending any investigations with the Lead Team 2) More serious cases may require an additional briefing prior to the scheduled investigation - Must attend three events, interview and initial "sweep" of premises by the Lead Team prior to hosting or networking independent outings while within our group.This is to ensure the personal safety of our members. ** Reference Notes: 1998 Richmond, VA A man in his early 30's joined a large paranormal group and began soliciting the young women of that group to attend "independent"cases where it was just himself and one of the women. Luckily nothing happened, but one of the young women took the preventative measures and told someone. They found out that the man is on the VA sex offender registry as a known pedophile and was charged with sexual assault and battery two years prior.** Conduct and Rules for Investigations: A) Attend at your own risk! - Although we take every imaginable measure, sometimes things happen. 1) Outdoor investigations may have tripping/falling hazards 2) Accessibility laws my be contrary to our research. If everything we read says we may access a premises, the local laws may have changed and be different. Some places may now be "No Trespassing" even if unmarked.We will do our best to research the laws, but again ... come at your own risk. 3) Bring all the equipment you feel you need, but the only person responsible for it is you. - We are not responsible for lost or stolen equipment. - Do not let anyone handle your equipment, if you do it is at your own risk. If a member damages your equipment that is between you and them. - Some entities may cause equipment failure. Please think before bringing your expensive stuff. B) The "Hunt" - Cell phones OFF or put on vibrate - Please keep the chatter limited to the events going on at that time. - Long Hair tied back - Wear what you want, but at residencies or in the presence of children, please be conservative. - Must be 18 or accompanied by an adult if under 18. - Absolutely NO recreational drug use or alcohol consumption prior or during investigations. - Do not summon,hold ritual,or try to channel any entity we come in contact with. We are there to collect evidence only! - No littering! - A Duress word will be designated. Sometimes ghost hunts can be scary and encounters with entities can vary for each individual. If you feel you are getting scared, ill, and want to leave but you don't want to feel "embarrassed" use the duress word. The Lead team will get you out of there without interrupting the investigation for others. What you tell the lead team STAYS with them 1) In the event of a medical/safety emergency, the duress is not needed. We will terminate the investigation and the proper emergency personnel will be contacted. - DO NOT WANDER OFF. Every location will be visited by the Lead Team in daylight hours prior to a scheduled event. If we mark off a parameter it is mostly because of safety. Stay within the parameter! . 1) Larger locations with larger groups, we may break down into individual teams. Do not wander from your team! If you have to leave at a certain time. Tell us. We'll escort you to your vehicle to ensure safety. - No one stays behind alone. If you wish to stay behind at a location, use the buddy system. - WE ARE NOT EXORCISTS! C) Planning: - All events and meetings will be posted on the forums,main page, and our meetup.com listing - The lead team will research and scope out outdoor premises prior to outdoor events - Any member may plan/host investigations and events, just work with the lead team. 1) The lead team will visit the premises prior to the day of the scheduled event. - The exception is special long distance outings where a day time inspection will be done with all those participating. We call these "dry runs" or "sweeps" Equipment: A) Nothing fancy is needed but here is a basic list. No one is required to purchase anything : - A notebook/pad to record events - A flash light - A Camera 1) 35mm disposable is fine 2) Digital Cameras should have but not required to have dual focuses a. If you prefer digital, try to bring a cheaper make and model than any higher cost cameras this is because of the affect some entities have on many pieces of equipment - Spare batteries and spare film. We will be taking many photos. Batteries have also been known to be drained fast when working in spirit occupied places. - If you do not own a camera, please bring a notepad and take notes of what people see, sense, feel etc. There will be many places we will visit more than once if not regularly. You will find that certain times/days/weather conditions than others. Misc: A) Personal Beliefs and customs: Being that the GTA is one of the most culturally diverse regions in North America you will notice that we all have various beliefs that differ. - Please be respectful of other people's cultures even if you don't agree. - If you feel you must do a prayer/ritual prior or after an investigation, feel free. If you do not wish to participate in one, you do not have to. - Do not try to push your religious preference on others! - If you want to bring sage,incense etc to hold a cleansing or psychic shielding ritual feel free - Personal religious items (charms, talismans, holy water etc...) may be brought with you. - The lead team is here to help you.
